Immunocytochemical Localization of Carcinoembryonic Antigen in Intraepithelial Neoplasia and Invasive Carcinoma of the Uterine Cervix

Abstract
|
|
|
Immunocytochemical stainings for carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) were performed on 12 cases of intraepithelial neoplasia and 27 cases of invasive carcinomas of the uterine cervix by using the avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex(ABC) techniques.
The results obtained were as follows.
1. Among 12 cases of intraepithelial neoplasia(dysplasia and carcinoma in situ), CEA was present in 10 cases(83.3 % ), with weak positivity in 7 cases(58.3 % ) and strong positivity in 3 cases(25.0 % ).
2. Among 24 cases of invasive squmous cell carcinomas, CEA was present in 20 case(83.4%) with strong positivity in 13 cases(54.2%)and weak positivity in 7 cases(29.2%).
